The Adele Ilfeld Auditorium was built in 1914. The building is the last monumental building in Las Vegas to be constructed of sandstone. The building was funded by local business tycoon Charles Ilfeld, who donated the funds to build the auditorium in memory of his wife Adele. The auditorium was designed by architect E.W. Hart in Romanesque Revival style and the Auditorium is recognized as the finest example of that style in New Mexico with its heavy stone arches and Tuscan columns.

The Auditorium underwent extensive renovation in 1996 and the 727 seat auditorium was restored and continues to serve the University.
