Calderbank is one the older properties in Lakeside. Originally there was space between them but now modern development has filled in the gaps.

Lakeside would not have existed until the Furness Railway built an extension line through to the lake for tourists. When the railway was built they did not own the steamers which carried tourists. Nevertheless a grand terminal, still standing, was built to convey the tourists from the train to the boats. Still in use today.
The date stone is under the gable of the south eastern corner.
