This Starbucks has a prime location with a front entrance on the main throroughfare, and a back entrance from one of the narrow streets of Myeongdong. It alsmost seems like two different stores, but both entrances lead to the same spacious lounge.
The largest Starbucks in the world used to be located here in Myeongdong where office rent is among the highest in all of Asia (ranked 4th highest). When a 300% rent increase in rent was demanded by the owner, Starbucks chose to relocate. There are at least two smaller locations now, including this one.
Myeongdong has long been a magnet for the young, trendy set with its modern shopping venues, theaters, and upscale eateries. There is also a lesser known, but extensive underground shopping area that stretches for blocks - another common element of life in the capital city.
