The Plaza Park was first established in 1836 when the space was set aside. The first trees were planted in 1880 at which time a picket fence was built. Circa 1910 the encircling and winding sidewalks were added along with more trees being planted. The park with refurbished in 1983-84 along with the a new bandstand in a Stick Revival style.

The Plaza Park has been the scene of many public events over the years. The park is well maintained.
