Jackson School is located on the east side of Enid. Designed by R. W. Shaw, the architect who designed all of the Enid schools, as well as the original buildings on the campus of Phillips University, it was constructed in 1936 and placed on the Historic Register in 1989.

This is a one-story buff brick building with cast stone details. Darker buff brick has been used above the windows and below the windows to the foundation. The facade is symmetrical with the center section having a typical mission parapet with stepped flat and curved sections and cast stone coping. At the center is a stone quadrafoil on the upper wall. This center section has six wood-framed 9/9 double hung windows with smaller 4/4 windows to each side. The darker brick lintels and the semicircular design above the center window carry out the Mission style.

To either side of this center section is a slightly recessed round-arch entry with two arched openings. Above each of these entries is a red tile shed roof. To the right and left of the center section across the facade, are additional 9/9 windows units, with a narrow red tile hip roof. At each end of the facade, taller brick pilasters have a stone Greek cross. The tall 9/9 windows continue on the south side of the building, facing the playground.

The interior is plain, with six rooms. An east-west running hallway through the building has two large classrooms at either end. Each room has a cloak closet and storage closet. Tile-floored restrooms are at the center of the building on the back wall. A detached addition was constructed in 1956 which is connected to the original building by an enclosed breezeway.

There are only three buildings in Enid of this Mission Revival style, the others being the Rock Island Depot built in 1928, and the Ehly House, built in 1929.

Jackson School closed in 1969 and the building was used for storage for many years. It re-opened in 1977 as Operation Uplift, and today is the home of the Community Care Center. (#89000848)
