This Flush Bracket is sited to the right of the entrance
of the former home of the Royal Marine School of Music, and
is now a private residence and should be respected as such.
The building of the barracks here in Walmer began in
1794, and this, a Grade II listed building was once a naval hospital. However,
with the expansion of the Royal Marine Depot, this and other buildings in East
barracks became home for the Royal Naval School of Music in 1930, becoming the
home to the world famous Royal Marines School of Music in 1950. The Royal
Marines left here in 1996 and the property developers moved in. The former Royal
Marines School of Music is now known as Admiralty Mews.
