"Die Maistaller Lacke ist ein nährstoffarmer Moorsee an einem kleinen Waldstück im Kufsteiner Stadtteil Zell. Der kleine See wurde aufgrund seiner typischen Pflanzen- und Tierwelt 1957 zum Naturdenkmal erklärt. Die Maistaller Lacke entstand durch eine schüsselförmige Senke, die durch den Inn in der letzten Eiszeit entstand, als er noch den ganzen Talboden bedeckte.
Durch verschiedene Einflüsse beschleunigt droht die völlige Verlandung des Weihers. Im Winter 1989 wurde deshalb eine teilweise Sanierung des Biotops in Angriff genommen.
Auf Karten des 18. Jahrhunderts ist zu erkennen, dass es früher rund zehn weitere kleine Moorteiche gab. Bis auf die Maistaller Lacke und zwei Sümpfe sind allerdings alle verschwunden. Auch der „kleine Maistaller See“ ist vollkommen verlandet und zum Teil einem Müllplatz zum Opfer gefallen. Dieser See lag nur wenige hundert Meter neben dem heutigen Stimmersee unterhalb des Maistaller Berges.

"The Maistaller paints is a nutrient-poor bog lake in a small wooded area in the Kufstein district of Zell. The small lake was declared a hallmark of plant and animal life in 1957 as a natural monument. The Maistaller paint was created by a bowl-shaped depression caused by the Inn in the last ice age arose when he was still covered the entire valley floor.
Accelerated by various factors threatening the complete silting of the pond. In the winter of 1989, therefore, a partial restoration of the habitat has been undertaken.
On maps of the 18 Century can be seen that there used to be about ten other small marsh ponds. Except for the Maistaller paints and two marshes but all have disappeared. Even the "little lake Maistaller" is completely silted up, and in part to a junkyard was a victim. This lake was only a few hundred meters near the present Stimmersee Maistaller below the mountain.
