The stadium was built in 1993. Local fans were asked to compete for the naming rights to the team which would play in the stadium. 6 different fans suggested the name Quakes, which was quickly approved by management of the team. Naturally, the name of the stadium had to be the Epicenter. Original seating capacity of the stadium was 4600 seats, but that has been expanded due to the high popularity of the team in the Rancho Cucamonga, CA area. In just five years, the team drew over 2 million fans and set California League attendance records for 8 years in a row. The Quakes ended their innagural season with a California League attendance record of 331,005. This was better than any Class "AA" team in the country and ranked fourth among class "A" teams nationwide.
The 1994 season saw the Quakes become California League Champions. The team is the local single A affiliate of the Anaheim Angels. Many major league players on the Angels squad will work rehab assignments with the Quakes due to the close proximity of the Epicenter with that of Anaheim.
