A stone plaque on the wall in the Cloistered Garden of Canterbury Cathedral is the only hint of the ancient church of St Mary Queningate which once stood here.

The plaque reads:

'This tablet marks the
west wall of the ancient
church of St Mary Queningate
& the stone in the grass
the return of the
north wall'

The website below has some information about this church including the following:

'St. Mary Queningate was a church so called from its situation near the ancient gate called Queningate. In 1381, the rector made an exchange of it and St. Michael's Church in Burgate, to which it was an annexed chapel for Portpool chantry in St. Paul's.'
