The plaque reads:
'THE PEACE TREE
This Japanese flowering cherry was planted
on Nagasaki Day 1981 as a sign of hope.
Presented by Canterbury C.N.D.'
The tree is a small cherry by the edge of the Cathedral grounds. The plaque is somewhat covered in lichen.
We are including this tree in this category as with other references to the atomic bombs, which killed so many yet saved so many FEPOWs too.
