There are two plaques on St George's Tower in Canterbury commemorating the historical events associated with this remaining part of St George's church and the city of Canterbury.

The first plaque reads as follows:

'This plaque was unveiled on June 1st 1992 by
the Lord Mayor of Canterbury to
commemorate the 50th anniversary of the
Baedeker Raid on this city on the night of
June 1st 1942 and is placed at the centre of the
devastation.

"The darkness has passed away and the true
light is already shining."

St George's church is also where the dramatist Christopher Marlowe was baptised as is detailed on the second plaque:

'Christopher Marlowe
Dramatist
Baptised in this church
26th February 1564
Died at Deptford
30th May 1593.'
