The 40 Springfield dogs were painted differently and spread around the town for 6 months in 2010 prior to being auctioned off to raise funds for schools. Two of the dogs, including this one, sit in front of Neill and Neill Insurance Agency Inc. at 662 Riverdale St. in West Springfield, Massachusetts.
The small plaque accompanying this dog reads:
"Free As A Butterfly
Artist
Susan Urban
Sponsor
Neill and Neill
Insurance Agency Inc."
The dog is painted with a sky blue base with blotches of cloud-like white. Differently colored and sized butterflies are randomly surrounding the sculpture's surface. The dog's ears are rainbow striped.
