'Welsh Dragon' (1901–6) by H.C.Fehr, atop the dome of Cardiff City Hall. A massive sculpture, made from cast lead on an iron frame
the height is approx 16 feet x 10 feet (4.50m high x 3.15m wide approx. Circumference at base:7.30m ) but you can hardly see it from the ground.

"The Dragon has an aggressive pose. Built on an iron frame, it was cast in seven pieces and burnt together in position. Partially gilt as are portions of the dome and lantern. The Town Hall and Law Courts, design of which was made the subject of an architectural competition. In December 1897 the designs of Lanchester, Stewart and Rickards were accepted. The Dragon was created as part of the commission and the buildings were formally opened by the Marquess of Bute in October 1906."
