St Mary’s Church in Ambleside, built in the Early Gothic style, has some very impressive stained glass windows by several leading stained glass artists and manufacturers. Some of the principal windows are:-
East window depicting The Four Evangelists & St Paul by John Scott & Son of Carlisle
West window depicting John the Baptist, Jesus with Simeon, Jesus’ Baptism, The Great Commission by William Warrington (1796-1869)
North Aisle window depicting the Raising of Lazarus by Camm & Co of Smethwick
Chancel windows by William Wailes (1808-1881) depicting Flight into Egypt and the Good Samaritan on the North window and Christ Blessing Children and the Charge to Peter on the South window
