This plaque, located in Winona Park, is dedicated to Albert Papazian. Albert was a member of the "Georgetown Boys" in 1926, the Stoney Creek Citizen of the Year in 1979 and a Charter Member of the Winona Peach Festival.
Text: "Albert's vision of the future enabled him to convince Saltfleet Township Council, in 1948, to purchase this land known as Winona Park. The Winona Peach Festival, of which Albert was a four time president, has been held here annually for 25 years.
He was known as "The Watchdog of the Dollars" and his firm but fair approach ensured the Festival's continued success.
Albert typifies the Festival slogan - "People working Together for a Better Community".
In addition to actively participating in many community endeavours, Albert also served 5 years on the Councils of Saltfleet Township and the Town of Stoney Creek."
The plaque was dedicated by the Winona Peach Festival in August 1994. Albert passed away in 1990.
