The hamlet of Muncheon-ri in Cheongan Village has chosen "Scarecrow Village" as its identity. There are several places where these scarecrows are located, including this one. This is the largest display found here at the main (south) entrance.
Each figure is 6-7 feet tall, made of fiberglass mounted on a steel pole. They are dressed in traditional Korean country clothes.
There are many acres of chestnut farms in this rural distric near the city of Gongju, Korea. This area accounts for about 12% of the chestnut production in the country. There is an annual Chestnut Festival here in the fall.
