The Houghton Building at 223 South Plaza was built between 1877 and 1882 and remodeled circa 1925. The two-story building was constructed of stone and brick which has been covered with stucco. The building features fluted corner pilasters with Corinthian capitals.

The building is in good condition and was undergoing maintenance and renovation when I visited.
