All Creatures Great and Small dramatizes the work of a practice of vets in the Yorkshire Dales, based on the books of Alfred Wight. The vets, James Herriot, Siegfried Farnon and Tristan Farnon usually deal with large farm animals, and larger than life Yorkshire farmers.

The veterinary practice is based at Skeldale House in the fictional dales village of Darrowby. In reality the dales village used for the film location was Askrigg. Whilst the location used for the veterinary practice and the location of the local public house was in Askrigg, the film crew did not, for some reason, use St Oswald’s Church in Askrigg for Darrowby Church. Other churches were used instead, in particular St Mary and St John’s in Hardraw.

The clips show the congregation leaving a harvest festival at the church, one clip close to the porch and another a clip taken from across the river.
