Appropriately, it is located near the airport. Local air ambulance service beganin 1946, when George Milligan, an air traffic controller, lost a friend who could not be transported quickly enough.
At first, it was only a twin engine cessna. In 1992, the group purchased the local ambulance service. Bu 1995 they had add added a helicopter and srved a radius of 100 miles. They had 15,000 member/supporters. The helicopter enabled service to remote recreational areas. One list includes 30 of the Mercy flight volunteers.
