This Oregon Dept of Transportation (ODOT) geodetic control point is located just off of Hwy 140 next to a low overpass over a canal running irrigation water.

I originally was trying to locate a bench mark that was showing on MyTopo.com maps as BMV 453 and discovered this benchmark disk instead. My assumption is that there was once an Oregon Highway Division benchmark imbedded in the headwall of the underpass and has since been destroyed after the underpass was redone a number of years ago and has been replaced by this control point disk. Attached pictures show the control point and reference pictures. The control point was buried under a good foot of soil and debris and I cleaned it off nicely with some water and a rag. It is not located in the NGS database.

*NOTE* After finding this control point it should be noted that it couldn't be categorized under any of the descriptions under Benchmark Agency or Monumentation Type. I've noticed other fiberglass witness posts all along Hwy 140 that COULD be of this same type of control point. If so, there may need to be two additional categories created for these types of control points. More to come...
