Wagon Mound is a butte which served as a guidepost for travelers along the Cimarron Cutoff. It was the last great landmark prior to travelers arriving in Santa Fe. It is located just east of the town of Wagon Mound which is named for the landmark.
The landmark was named a National Historic Landmark in 1963 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1966 when the register was established.
The coordinates listed above are for the parking area between two cemeteries just east of town and just north of the butte.
