A windspeed and direction measuring device is the most easily identifiable feature of this station, and the pier is an ideal location for determining these measurements for boaters. Local Channel 10 uses the values measured here to communicate lake conditons. The other instruments aren't as easily identified from the ground, but humidity, barometric pressure and temperature are all determined here. Wind-chill and heat index can also be calculted.
