You will hike about 8 miles in 8 hours on a good day. Please plan to bring lots of water and this can not be done all in one day. It took us 14 hours total to hike there and back. The plaque says, "The water of Havasu Creek owes its peculiar blue-green color to the high concentration of lime that carries. This lime is deposited on the creek bed to build terraces. Sticks and leaves trapped in the deposited travertine help this process."
