The Bach Ma Temple dates back to 1010. It was constructed at the order of the founder of the Ly dynasty, Ly Thai To, the chap who made Hanoi the capital of Vietnam. The temple has been extensively rebuilt over the centuries, and in fact, it looks as if it has had a recent face lift.
Standing guard, either side of the road side entrance, are two small, white lions. Easy to spot. The temple is in central Hanoi, in the middle of the tourist/backpacker area (what a fate).
