This hotel was the nation's largest beach resort when it opened in 1888. This hotel has been the vacation spot for celebrities and politicians, has been the site for several films and books, and is located on one of America's finest beaches in the posh San Diego neighbor community of Coronado.
In 1892, a woman checking in as Kate Morgan committed suicide here.
According to this website (

The Hotel sells a book based on the story (

The RoadsideAmerica website (

adds that in addition to the Morgan story,
"Orville Redenbacher, the popcorn king, lived at the Hotel del Coronado from 1976 until his death at age 88 in 1995. He hasn't popped up, in any form."
