This art deco building was also formerly offices for a local of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees and is sometimes listed as the "AFSCME--Ohio Council 8 Building." It is preserved as a fine example of art deco building in Columbus. It appears on the Ranker List of Famous Art Deco Buildings.

From Dictionary of Ohio Historical Places Lorrie K. Owen, Ed. Somerset Publishers, Inc. 1999 "... the Central Assurance Company exhibits two-dimensional modernistic ornamentation and massing. . . . Stepped in piers, engaged to the wall, with stylized, flat capitals define the vertical perimeter of the structure. Two Tuscan Doric engaged columns plank the doorway and support a flat heavy cornice. Stylized plants are carved into the frieze and capitals. Wide carreia glass bands separate the floors and act as a baseboard along the bottom." p. 426
