Carved from a single fallen tree trunk, a rat is being eyed up by a snake wrapped round the trunk. It's on the side of the road leading to the car park.
Westley Heights is part of the Langdon Hills Country Park to the south-west of Basildon, it is accessed off the B1007, between Basildon and Corringham, turning by the Harvester which used to be the 'Crown' pub. There are the usual facilities including Car parking, Toilets, Picnic area, Access Paths, and a Natural Play Area constructed in the woods.
Quoting the Thurock Council website: "Dating back to the Saxon period, Langdon simply means "long hill". The park sits on a 385ft crescent-shaped hilly ridge which extends from Dunton to Vange. There are two main areas totalling approximately 400 acres (or the size of 200 full size football pitches), One Tree Hill and Westley Heights."
