This is one of a number of gargoyles to be found on the church of St Mary of Charity. This particular gargoyle, located on the north side of the church, removes water from a flat roof area, some 15 feet or so from the ground and can be viewed at close quarters.

A church of some description has been on this site since the formation of Faversham Abbey in 1147 by King Stephen, albeit the current church was a medieval one extensively enlarged and altered during the Victorian period, so much so it is one of the largest churches in Kent.

Water spout is used: no

Condition: Lightly Weathered
