This truly inspiring memorial was initiated and supported by the students and faculty of Gahanna Lincoln High School. The 20 granite columns contain the names of former students who served in the U.S. Military.

Along the front lawn facing the street this memorial stretches for perhaps a hundred feet. At the west end is a cluster of 20 polished granite columns, each 10 feet high, with the names of Lincoln High School students who served in the U.S. Military.

Along the paved and landscaped strip, about 20 to 30 feet wide are 30 granite benches and 64 commemorative pavers. The memorial was built by Dakota Granite and dedicated in November, 2006. There are two granite markers with inscriptions on them as seen below.

DURING THE FALL OF 2005, AMID
THE WAR ON TERROR, LINCOLN
HIGH SCHOOL STAFF AND STUDENTS
DECIDED TO CREATE A LASTING IMAGE
THAT WOULD COMMEMORATE OUR
SOLDIERS' ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND
SACRIFICES. OVER 100 STUDENTS
TEACHERS, AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS
HAVE COLLABORATED TO MAKE THIS
MONUMENT A REALITY. IT HONORS
THOSE WHO PASSED THROUGH THE
HALLS OF LHS AND SERVED IN THE
UNITED STATES MILITARY TO PROTECT
OUR FREEDOM AND LIBERTY.
HUNDREDS OF GAHANNA LINCOLN
STUDENTS HAVE ANSWERED THE
CALL OF DUTY BY SERVING AMERICA
IN WAR AND IN PEACE. THE NAMES
OF THOSE HEROES WHO LOST THEIR
LIVES IN MILITARY SERVICE ARE
ENSHRINED ON THE GRANITE COLUMNS
OF THIS MONUMENT. SYMBOLS OF THE
FIVE MILITARY BRANCHES RECOGNIZE
ALL GAHANNA STUDENTS WHO HAVE
SERVED HONORABLY TO UPHOLD THE
VALUES OF OUR GREAT NATION

DEDICATED NOVEMBER 2006



GENERATIONS, YET UNBORN, WILL BE INDEBTED TO
THESE HONOREES AND THE SACRIRFICES THEY MADE.
THIS COMMUNITY IS EXHIBITING ITS APPRECIATION
TO THOSE FROM OUR MIDST WHO SO FAITHFULLY
SERVED. THEY LEFT THE HALLS OF LEARNING AND
THE KNOWLEDGE GAINED TO PROTECT OUR VALUED
HERITAGE. THEY KNEW THAT WITHOUT VICTORY
THERE IS NO SURVIVAL.
