In the Chestnut Hill neighborhood that straddles the Boston and Newton city line, is Boston College. On the eastern side of campus is Shea Field, which is a collection of baseball fields, one of which, the Eddie Pellagrini Diamond, is where the BC Eagles men's baseball team play their home games.

The field is literally in the shadows of the college's football field, Alumni Stadium, and adjacent parking garage. By evidence of peanut shells on the ramp, it appears that the garage is a place where people watch the game. There is a small grandstand on the third base line, as well. There is a backstop and dugouts, as well as an outfield fence and lighted scoreboard. In general, the grounds appear to be well kept.

According to the Boston College Athletics site, the field is named after John Shea, who graduated from Boston College and played football at the college. He died in 1942 during WWII when the ship, "Wasp" was torpedoed. Eddie Pellagrini was a BC baseball coach for a duration of 31 years. The diamond was dedicated in 1997.
