here are over 60 cemeteries within the coastal town of Rye, New Hampshire. Most of them are small family cemeteries, and there are several church cemeteries including this one adjacent to the Congregational Church which is located at the intersection of Washington and Central St. A church was first built here in 1837, and this is the third building, replacing one that burned in 1959. The largest cemetery is Central Cemetery which is adjacent to this one.

Many of the one-hundred or so graves here date back to the American Revolutionary War and the Civil War. Most of the head stones are in good condition, though aged by the elements, of course, and the grounds themselves are well maintained.
