There are a number of Civil War era headstones (both soldiers and sailors) that continue to be remembered with flags at this cemetery.
Neither the graves of union soldiers nor of the Erie Canal workers are the oldest in this cemetary. The oldest legible tombstones contained date of death going back to the 1830s.
