Nation Heroes Monument - an iron cross about 30 meters high, built in memory of the heroes of 1848 revolution. The cross is placed on a concrete base shaped a house on top of which stood the cross. It was built in place of the old wooden crosses erected in the years 1936-1937, but it was vandalized and dynamited in 1948.
Commemorative plate are mentioned Cluj prefect, Alexander Batraneanu, its tribunes, with whom he fought with Avram Iancu German historian Stephan Ludwig Roth.

What was the role of this site in revolution?: The fortification of citadela was built with the primary goal to ensure control of the city, after the Transylvania under Austrian rule, but was often used as a prison, especially during the Revolution of 1848-1849. Here he was imprisoned and executed on May 11, 1849 Saxon pastor Stephan Ludwig Roth, one of the heroes of the Revolution.
