This caboose masquerading as a Great Northern Railway caboose is in fact a Pacific Great Eastern Railway (PGE) cab that was built in Squamish, British Columbia. It original road number is unknown at this time. (
visit link) It has an unusual clerestory window built into its rooftop that is not usually associated with cabooses and I suspect it was added at a later date to allow more light into the interior since it is now used as an office space. This is conjecture and it may have been included in its original PGE design but other examples of PGE cabooses do not have this design.
The Pacific Great Eastern Railway (PGE), was a railway that operated in the Canadian province of British Columbia. It was a class II regional railway and the third-largest in Canada, eventually operating 1,441 miles of mainline track. It was owned by the provincial government starting in 1918, became British Columbia Railway (BCR) in 1972, and BC Rail (BCR) in 1984.
