"The present parish of St. James of Mondrões enjoyed a great reputation, having come to be village and having long connections to the hieronimita order, even as vigariado belonging to the patronage of the Jeronimos Monastery of Bethlehem The parish church of Mondrões have been built in the early decades of the sixteenth century, possibly at an early date of 1519. The temple, dedicated to St. James, has Manueline planimetry and spatiality, a single nave with a length twice the width, north and south portals torn on axis, and rectangular chancel, with all the toppings made ??through elegant starry vaults. However, the original structure was slightly altered by subsequent reconstruction work, dated as of 1744, at which time the entire region was experiencing great economic prosperity."
