Beautiful Lake Erhai, surrounded by high peaks of Cangshan Mountains, is one of the beloved touristic targets of the most attractive (from the point of view of nature-lovers...) Chinese province - Yunnan.
With an altitude of 1970 m above sea level, Erhai Lake is a beautiful highland lake of Yunnan Province and one of the seven largest fresh water lakes in China. As it shapes like an ear, and wave like a sea, the locals named it "Er-hai" - Ear Sea in Chinese language. Lake is located 2 km east of regional centre Dali, encompasses an area of 250 km² is 40 km long (N-S), 8 km wide from (E-W). Its circumference reaches 116 km, its average depth is of 11 m and the total storage capacity of 2.5 billion m³.
Given waymark coordinates will lead you to the Erhai Taoyoun port at north-western Erhai's lakeshore, where you can choose one of numerous offered ship cruises over lake. Most of cruises have one stop at small island Nanzhao (Amorous Island) eastwards accross the lake (closee village Dajiancun) and final destination in port of the local capital - town Dali.
