The London Fire Brigade has two fire boats that work the River Thames. This one (see photos) is called "Fire Flash" and the other is "Fire Dart".
They are usually moored at the berth on the east side of the Thames, between Vauxhall and Lambeth bridges, outside the old London Fire Brigade Headquarters.
They were built by Alnmaritec, in the north east of England, and they are used for a variety of incidents. They are ideally suited for incidents on the river such as fires, strandings, rescuing people from the water and other marine related incidents. They can also help fight fires on the river's frontage and may often be the first responder as they do not have to battle through the London traffic. Although they look "ugly" and do not have fine lines they do have a good turn of speed.
The photographs were taken from the co-ordinates given that are on Vauxhall Bridge. A good view of the fire boats can be had from here and they tend to put the boats through their paces in this stretch of the river.
