The tourist region situated between Prague and the Sázava river bears the name of Josef Lada – one of the most prominent personalities of the Czech culture. The creator of the well-known tomcat Mikeš and other animal characters, water sprites and fairies, and the author of illustrations for Hašek’s Good Soldier Švejk found lifelong inspiration for his work in the landscape surrounding his birthplace Hrusice.
