The post office is located in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, opposite the Notre-Dame cathedral.

Built around 1886-1891, Saigon Central Post Office is a French colonial style building with beautiful friezes on its facade. It is well worth a visit.

French King Louis XI, who reigned from 1461 to 1483, reintroduced the Roman post house system in France. This is the reason why his name, surrounded by a beautiful frieze, can be seen on the facade of the Saigon Central Post Office.

Inside the post office, the superb metallic ceiling was designed by Gustave Eiffel in 1891. Some old maps are painted high up on the walls and there is a huge portrait of Ho Chi Minh, the country's liberator from Western colonialism.
