This border crossing is on a major highway connecting the two northern Thai provinces of Phrae and Nan.

These are two quiet, agricultural provinces, with a little light industry, but virtually no tourism. As is not uncommon in the Kingdom of Thailand there is a large blue sign stretching across the road, indicating the border point. This sign indicates the Nan Province border and lists three of the more prominent tourist attractions in the province. There is no comparable sign heading south, back to Phrae. Easy to spot. This region of northern Thailand is hilly, with long and winding roads.
