German immigrants seeking to construct a place of worship sent a delegation to England, Holland, and Germany on a fundraising trip, which was successful and also recruited an assistant pastor. The sanctuary was built in 1740, and then later expanded in 1790 to include a pipe organ. It has been in continuous use since its construction with a small congregation worshipping here.
