Sharon, Massachusetts has a welcome sign on Mass. Route 27, coming into the town from Walpole. The sign is on a relatively large board with other signs surrounding it. The main text states the following:

"[Town Seal]
Sharon
A Better Place to Live Because its Naturally Beautiful"

The text is framed by a white cloud surrounded by blue sky as well as conifer trees on either side and land-water on the bottom.

Surrounding the major sign are several other signs. Most show school state championships. One shows that Sharon is a 'Heart Safe' community. The rest are of organizations that meet in the community.

The sign is one-sided.

The location is about 200 ft southeast of the intersection of Route 27, Norwood Street, and Edge Hill Road, on the right.

Sharon is an outer suburb of Boston. Though does have a portion along US Route 1, where there is mediumly dense commercial and industrial activity, much of the rest of town is protected land. Two properties, side by side, are at Moose Hill. The older and larger is Moose Hill Massachusetts Audubon Sanctuary, which has over 2000 acres of land, and Moose Hill Farm - Trustees of Reservations, which has about 200 acres. At the southeast corner is Borderlands State Park, which is a state owned property. Sharon has several town-owned properties, as well, including Lake Massapoag, which has a town-owned beach.

Sharon was created out of Stoughton in 1775. Sharon was named after the Sharon Plain in Israel, due to its forestation.
Type of community: Town
