The creek rises in Jervis Bay National Park & drains an area where the predominant undergrowth is native tea tree. Tea tree bark was used in colonial times to tan hides & it is these trees that give the waters of Moona Moona Creek its distinctive colour.
The small delta is sandy & shallow & ideal for swimming & canoeing. The reaches beyond the bridge are fringed by mangroves with a muddy bank.
I took the reading on the southern side at low tide. There had been a severe electrical storm a few days before & sea foam had collected on the beach & in the creek. I then walked over to the other side to take a few more pictures, particularly of the water's colour.
You can park a short distance away from the mouth or walk from Huskisson.
