The obelisk located on the south border of town Brandýs nad Orlicí, in pictoresque valley, was dedicated on October 5, 1865 during great feast which more then 6000 people visited. Just on the places where John Amos Comenius was hidden with his family in 1622-25 after Battle of White Mountain in 1620 when Czech protestants were persecuted all over thecountry. He wrote here one his most famous work "Labyrinth of the World and Paradise of the Heart".

Na turistické známce c. 1140, venované mestu Brandýs nad Orlicí je vyobrazen památník Jana Amose Komenského, který byl slavnostne odhalen 5. ríjna 1865 v místech, kde snad stál domek Komenského kdyz se zde v letech 1622 - 1625 skrýval . Napsal tady nekolik spisu, zejména slavný Labyrint sveta a ráj srdce.
Brandýs nad Orlicí je mesto v okrese Ústí nad Orlicí v Pardubickém kraji. Leží na obou brezích reky Tichá Orlice na spojnici okresního mesta Ústí nad Orlicí, které leží 11 km od Brandýsu, a Chocne, od které leží 5 km daleko. Mestem prochází železnicní tah Pardubice - Ceská Trebová, a proto se zde nachází železnicní zastávka. Historické jádro mesta je od roku 1995 mestskou památkovou zónou.
