This wat has the largest chedi in the 'ancient' city of Chiang Saen. The 58m chedi dates from 1291 (or 1331), and is currently, March 2012, undergoing restoration. It is assumed that originally this structure housed a relic of the Buddha. The grounds contain other ancient constructs, partially excavated. There is much other restoration and new construction going on in the temple grounds. There is also a medium sized tourist market inside the temple. Waymark made at main entrance.

Information from local museum pamphlet.
