Westlake Station is part of the 1.3 mile / 2.1 km transit tunnel that runs the length of downtown Seattle. It is a mixed bus and light rail transit tunnel that ran solely hybrid trolley buses from its opening in 1990 until 2005 when it was closed for rail conversion. Today both modes continue to serve the public at this location.
Westlake Station is a part of Sound Transit's Central Link system and is very close to the Seattle Monorail's Westlake Station, but the two are different systems that have separate fare structures.
