The date stone for the church appears above the front entrance. The growth of the parish has seen the church no longer able to accommodate those attending Sunday service & the latter is now held in the church hall. The church now functions as the church hall but not in all respects. However the church is still the church & the hall the hall. It is just a matter of practicalities.
Other activities such as Bible Study are held in the church. The hall hosts breakfast as it has the facilities.
In 1868 Rev. CJ Mood held the first service for the Presbyterian Church in a hall or room and did this until 1885. A site was purchased in 1884 for 60 pounds and than a committee formed to raise money. In August 1885 a stone church was opened and in 1886 Rev. J MacIntyre became the first minister. Credit: (
