The stone church dates from 750AD but it seems that a wooden church was on the site from some years earlier. The cross, made from stone, dates from this time and is believed to be a prayer cross. Unfortunately weather over the years has taken its toll and only part of the upright of the cross remains. It is situated near to the church porch. Church building has had many additions and restoration carried out. Still used for worship and open to the public during the week.
