The sign says, "The red-tailed hawk has a dark brown back with light underparts and fan-shaped rusty-colored tail. The hawk's back is short, dark and hooked. The wingspan is 48 inches.
The hawk's tail is strongly banded, and the shoulders are orange-red in color with a lighter cinnamon color seen on the outer wing in flight. The beak is short, dark and hooks. The wingspan is 40 inches."
