The sign is located along the boardwalk trail in Midway Geyser Basin at Excelsior Geyser.
The Buried Alive sign discusses the thousands of years worth of microbes that have grown in the overflow waters from Grand Prismatic Spring. These microbes are then cover by new layers of sinter and then new microbe layers develop. The view from this sign show a wall of the Excelsior Geyser crater made up of hundreds of these alternating layers.
